Hoopa is the only residential modular home builder in the state of California at present. The company was established in August 2005 by the Hoopa Valley Tribe. It is located on the Hoopa Reservation in Northern California near Redding. According to Hoopa’s website the tribe formed Hoopa Modular to bring economic opportunities, job training and quality affordable housing to the Hoopa Valley Tribe. After some success, they decided to make their products available to builders, and developers within a 500 mile radius of their plant. Hoopa Modular works with many small builders looking to increase their production and profitability with the ability to attract customers to a quality home.

Modular Home Construction
In the 1960s, the mobile home industry made an evolutionary split. One branch evolved into recreational vehicles RVs to the point where the house now tows the car. The other branch evolved into manufactured homes, 95 percent of which now become permanent dwellings once they are transported from the factory to the site. Factory built housing is also popular in many countries around the world.

Modular Homes are Superior
Sheetrock is often glued and screwed to wall studs and triple headers are used over window openings and around stairwells to withstand the stress of transportation and being picked up by a crane.

Connecticut Modular Homes
Most factory built homes are constructed entirely within a controlled climate. Construction continues year round and assembly line workers don’t need to be skilled carpenters and are paid about half of what on site contractors are normally paid. Many of the laborers working in the systems built housing industry have steady jobs with benefits and can afford to buy the products they make.
