Michigan Modular Homes

Modular Home Builders Michigan. Modular homes found in Michigan and other states consist of prefabricated sections which are produced in a factory and then delivered and assembled on-site. These sections are produced on an indoor factory assembly line, much as a car would be. It can take between one to three months for all of the house sections to be produced. The house sections are assembled together using both cranes and flat bed trucks, and can be completed in as little as ten days. Once the modular home is built, it is largely indistinguishable from a typical built home.

And Michigan modular homes, much like their stick built counterparts, will increase in value over time. Modular homes tend to be priced lower than typical complete site built homes and they are usually more cost effective to both builders and consumers. This cost savings is largely due to the materials being purchased in large quantities.

There are several main differences between modular and mobile homes, including the building codes used, materials used, and the way a bank appraises the home. Modular homes conform to BOCA codes, which are the same as any complete on-site built home. Mobile homes, however, only comply with HUD requirements, and are generally considered to be of lesser quality construction because of this.

Michigan Modular homes are always set upon either a perimeter foundation or a basement, whereas mobile homes are constructed with a steel chassis and are not typically on a permanent foundation. Due to this, banks typically do not offer loans for mobile homes, because they can be difficult to insure. Modular homes qualify for the same building loans that typical stick built homes qualify for.
